COERR Mae Hong Son Organized Child Right and Child Protection Referral System Training

   During May 2023, COERR Mae Hong Son organized several trainings about child protection in Ban Mae Surin and Ban Mai Nai Soi temporary shelters in Mae Hong Son Province’s Khun Yuam and Mueang District.

   In Ban Mae Surin Temporary Shelter, Basic Child Right and Child Protection Training was organized on May 25, 2023 in which 20 youths of 13 females and 7 males participated.

   In Ban Mai Nai Soi Temporary Shelter, training on child right and responsibility, organized on May 20th and 27th, had 100 participants of 50 females and 50 males; and training on child protection and child protection referral system on May 12, 2023, had 32 participants of 14 females and 18 males; on May 26, had 40 youth coordinators of 25 females and 15 males; and on May 30, had 30 members of child protection committee of 20 females and 10 males attended.

   The aim was to equip these youth who represented youth group, child committee, youth coordinator, etc. to learn about basic child rights such as right to survival, right to protection, right to education and development and right to participation.

   Meanwhile, sometimes the children’s rights were violated such as, bullies, abuse, neglect, forced marriage, trafficking, etc. it was necessary that children should be aware and equipped with basic child rights knowledge to prevent violation.

   Participants were also invited to report any child abuse incidents. Should violations occur in the communities, children should notify concerned persons immediately for urgent intervention.
